Walk to highlight disorder
The Oklahoma City version of a national fundraiser, Promise Walk for Pre-eclampsia, is set for 10:30 a.m. May 12.

The event supports the Pre-eclampsia Foundation?s goals of providing patient support and education, raising public awareness and improving health care practices, according to a news release.
Pre-eclampsia is a potentially fatal disorder that occurs during pregnancy and immediately after giving birth.
It affects the mother and child. Patients face elevated blood pressure and can experience organ failure, seizures and cerebral hemorrhages.
About 300,000 patients are treated in the U.S. each year for some form of the disorder.
Participants may register at www.promisewalk.org/oklahomacity.
The cost is $20 for walkers 13 and older and $10 for children 12 and under.
Those who register online will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a goodie bag.
Strollers and pets on leashes are welcome.
Walk-day registration begins at 9:30 a.m. May 12 at the Bob Hope Pavilion at Stars and Stripes Park, 3701 S Lake Hefner Drive.
Events include a raffle and silent auction, snacks and lunch for walkers, face-painting, a QA session with health experts and an end-of-the-day balloon release.
Students seek to stop hunger
Metro Technology Centers' Biomedical Science Academy students are hosting the Walk for Hunger on Saturday.
