ASUS breaks through 120Hz refresh rate with VG2788H gamer monitor refresh

ASUS continues to update its VG monitor series, and this time it's got something a little more impressive than an integrated IR transmitter. According to FlatpanelsHD, the VG278HE has knocked through the 120Hz barrier that most monitors come up against. The 27-incher can be configured to a buttery smooth 144Hz for 2D and 3D gaming, while inputs include HDMI, dual-link DVI and VGA. The monitor also supports NVIDIA's 3D Vision 2 -- but you'll have to buy the rest of the parts separately. We've reached out to ASUS about pricing and availability, but until we hear more, you'll just have to imagine those breezy refresh rates. Update: ASUS told us we can expect to see the display hit shelves sometime in Q4, but noted that pricing has not been finalized.

How Social Networking Help New Online Games | Old Mill Hill Society

Over the recent years, online gaming industry has witnessed a steep rise in its popularity. The continued popularity these games enjoy has led to the development of various aspects, notably marketing, connected with these.

There is little doubt that the Internet has become the most popular channel of communication during the last few years and this led to the development of social media websites that enjoy huge popularity as the users are free to share information at any time of the day or night. Marketing professionals foresee these websites as an excellent medium for marketing because the medium is immensely appealing for people of all ages and genders. They believe it?s going to be the medium of future marketing and advertising.

If you thought social media enjoys popularity with buddies at college or workplace, you may be wrong as it?s equally popular with another category of people called online gamers. Game developers are out to make the most of it as new online games get launched everyday by the dozens. Social media websites enable online gamers? network to know the latest trends in the online bingo games and the news here travels at lightening speeds. Of late, online game developers have realized that social media websites prove to be the ideal place for testing of newly developed games. Various game developers introduced new variants of their games to these networks as it offers quite a few advantages.

A very important benefit of launching and thus testing of online games through gaming websites is that the developers are able to get first hand feedback from real time players who are ardently interested in such games and thus provide unbiased opinion about the behavior of game in real time. The kind of feedback provided by the actual users is of immense help to the developers who can make necessary changes, if required, to offer a first class well rounded game to online gamers.

One would also appreciate that developers save a lot of time and expense by introducing previews of games through social media networks. That?s because the number of players patronizing the newly released games on social networking sites is rather limited and thus manageable.

As the game is introduced to a smaller audience, the website hosting the game and the developers of the game can incorporate appropriate changes such as play games win prizes, if need arises, in the interface or layout of the game without spending a lot of time or money, which they would have otherwise spent on rebuilding it on a larger scale.

Coming to the marketing aspect of the game, it will be hard to find someplace better than social media sites for launching a new online game. If the game is new and bright and players are thrilled with the structure of the game, it is very likely that the game gets wide publicity among the social media users before the same is really introduced to general market. Under such circumstances the game stands better chances of becoming an immediate hit on being released to masses, while bringing publicity and the subsequent revenue to its developers and hosts.

SharePoint 2010: What is it, really? ? Business Management Daily ...

If you?ve never used SharePoint, you may be confused by some ?people?s descriptions of it. For the uninitiated (or underinitiated), here?s what SharePoint is and isn?t.

What it is (and isn?t)

SharePoint looks, feels and functions like a sophisticated website. Many large retail websites are actually SharePoint sites that have been made accessible to the public. So if you can use a browser, you can use SharePoint. SharePoint is not a simple network shared drive or folder. One way to characterize the difference is to think of the shared drive as a warehouse and SharePoint as a showroom with all its contents arranged how you would use them. It is a platform where you can create places to share content.

SharePoint 2010 Enterprise version can even function like a social net??work for your organization. With a well-thought-out strategy for what are called My Sites, SharePoint 2010 can be??come a resource to find expertise in the or?ganization, to share ideas and to stay connected in meaningful ways about industry trends and intracompany news.

What is SharePoint

SharePoint is highly integrated with Microsoft Office. For example, in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, you can use SharePoint much the same way you would a network drive. SharePoint just becomes another location to open and save files.

For Outlook, you can add your team calendar right from SharePoint, so both are visible. As you update content on SharePoint, it updates in your SharePoint calendar in Outlook.

Beyond document and calendar sharing, you can have a myriad of Share??Point lists that actually function as a database. For example, you can list tasks, product information, contacts and more as easy-to-access lists. You can even import data to SharePoint from Excel and Access as a SharePoint list.

SharePoint and Outlook

What?s new in 2010?

If you?re transitioning to SharePoint 2010 from an earlier version, one thing you?ll notice is the ribbon interface. If you have become familiar with the ribbon from your Office applications, you?ll find it easy to start using SharePoint. Office Web Apps also are integrated. You can view and edit documents from the SharePoint site, making it unnecessary to have anything but a good Internet connection, and an ID and password to your SharePoint site.

New templates for site and page creation, as well as new out-of-the box workflows, are available, so you can get more done without much technical assistance. All your SharePoint content should port quite nicely to the newest version.? The new Enterprise version also contains many things, which were previously separate add-ons, like Excel and Visio Services.

Some Recipe Suggestions for Commonly Required ... - Health Funda

Aromatherapy products are as flexible as your needs and the effects of the various essential oils and carriers you use to create them. So starting out can be a little daunting, as you?re confronted with all these hundreds of different plant essences and their various uses, but you have little idea what you can use to work with which and whether what you have in your head is even possible.

Aromatherapy Products

To which end, it might be useful to come up with a few sample recipes you can try out for commonly required effects. Note that all essential oils must be mixed with carrier oils before application to the human skin, or you can cause organ damage: and also be aware that carrier oils themselves have different properties, which you might want to take into account when mixing your products:

For fragrancing rooms and lifting your spirits in various seasons or with various conditions, have a go at some of the following.

This recipe is for an aroma that really brings out the cosiness and comfort of your surroundings. Use 15 drops of orange oil; 6 drops of cinnamon oil; and 2 drops of clove oil, to create a warm and welcoming scent that?ll lift your spirits when the nights are long and the days are short.

To bring some zing back into your life, try this citrus uplift recipe: 4 drops of lemongrass; 5 drops of lime; 4 drops of bergamot; and 3 drops of petitgrain. The resulting smell will bring life back to tired bones and energise a flagging spirit!

If you want to bring summer inside (this is great for homes where not all the rooms get sunlight during the day) you can try the sunny day?s mixture. Mix 6 drops of ylang ylang; 6 drops of sandalwood; and 6 drops of grapefruit.

For special occasions, a romantic meal for example or an anniversary night in, blend 2 drops of frangipani; 3 drops of rose otto; and 2 drops of sandalwood. The resulting smell is sensuous and enticing.

You don?t need to dilute in carrier oils when you?re vaporising the mixture in a fragrance. But do note, as pointed out above, that if you intend to use the oils on skin you must dilute first.

You can also add a couple of drops of the right oil to your bathwater to soother tired muscles or ease aching joints. Again you should take care to properly mix the oil in the water so you get a long lasting and even effect.

For muscle and joint stiffness, the following Aromatherapy Products and essential; oils will help: frankincense, myrrh, marjoram, juniper, eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary, camphor and roman chamomile. You can experiment with your own combinations in a carrier oil to massage into muscles after a long run or to warm your joints on a cold day. Alternatively look for pre-made aromatherapy products with the right properties. Black pepper and ginger carrier oils are perfect for this.

Networking how-to: practice philanthropy | Networking Ahead for ...

left to right: Judy Rosenthal of the Saint Francis Foundation and volunteer leader of the Schmoozers Job Group Network in CT, writer/speaker/philanthropist Kathy McAfee, RozeLyn Beck of the YWCA Hartford Region and dog therapy volunteer with her German Shepard, Cadbury for Tails of Joy nonprofit

I was having lunch last week with Judy Rosenthal and RozeLyn Beck when the topic of philanthropy came up.

I shared with these two amazing women that four years ago, I decided that I was a philanthopist and that someday I would be giving away millions of dollars to help tons of people improve their lives and communities. At present, I don?t yet know how or when this will happen. Those details are working themselves out, but the hard part is done. I made the decision about what role I wanted to play. I am a philanthropist. How about you?

?Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude? ? Zig Ziglar

It starts with the right attitude

Judy, RozeLyn and I all agreed that philanthropy is first an attitude, second an action. RozeLyn pointed out that it isn?t how much money you donate, but the fact that you share with others what you have. Your capacity for giving may be in part related to your current financial position, however, your willingness to be generous, to share, to help, to give to others,? why that is ingrained in your personality, values and attitude. Maybe it was how you were raised or perhaps you?ve been inspired to think and act philanthropically later in your life. However you got there, good for you. You?ve arrived at the Promised Land.

Schmoozers are practicing philanthropy

Both Judy and RozeLyn are practicing philanthropists and have impacted many lives of those people facing long term unemployment. RozeLyn is a successful graduate of the Schmoozers Job Group network where Judy and many other volunteers (myself included) give their time and talent to this volunteer organization that assists unemployed and underemployed professionals in the Farmington Valley in Connecticut.? Hosted by the Jewish Family Services (JFS) nonprofit organization, the Schmoozers group is one of the most dynamic and energetic re-employement groups that I have ever addressed as a professional speaker. Collectively, they have an amazing attitude of positivity and giving back. In fact, many of the Schmoozers members give back by offering to help at JFS, making donations with their time within the community, and when they ?land? they always give back remembering the plight of their unemployed brethren during their journey. This is a great example of how people can practice philanthropy even at times of personal adversity, such as long term unemployment.

You practice with what you have to work with right now

Just like in Yoga, it?s not about perfection or competing with the guy or gal next to you. Your ?practice? begins with accepting and making the most with what you have to work with right now. The good news is that as a budding philanthropist, you have a lot of work with. Most people think of large sums of money and large financial assets when it comes to qualifying as a philanthropist. But you also have the value of your time and talent. And you can leverage your personal influence, by rallying the people in your network to support the issues that you care about and the social ills that you want to see changed in your lifetime. I call this leveraging your circle of influence to expand your circle of concern.

What do you have to work with as a philanthropist?

  1. Treasure? ? your donations, financial contributions, tithing, participating in the United Way community investment campaign drive at your workplace, appropriating funds from your wills/trusts/estate to a nonprofit of your choice after your death, matching other people?s donations, sponsoring charitable events, raising money through your participation in charity golf, runs, walks, etc.
  2. Time ? you volunteering at events, volunteer leadership roles, board positions, nonprofit committee work,? making a call to a sick friend, making cookies for a new neighbor, walking a friend?s dog when they can?t, working in a food pantry, etc.
  3. Talent? ? your pro bono service of your skills and expertise to help advance a worthy cause without charging them or at a significantly reduced rate, etc.
  4. Network ? lending your? social capital, sharing links on social media, serving as a table captain at a fund raising event, writing/speaking/advocating on issues, personally inviting your friends to get involved, share what causes you are passionate about with the people in your network, etc.

Today is the day

This summer I have the privilege to do a series of presentation training seminars for The United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. They are mobilizing a mass of volunteer leaders and a large network of affiliated agencies to kick off the 2012 United Way Campaign. Watch this short video with his wonderful music and you too will be inspired to be part of this united movement. I hope that you and your employer will enthusiastically participate in the 2012 United Way Campaign.

Be a role model

When you practice philanthropy, you will be inspiring other people through your actions and attitude. I know that some people prefer to be ?anonymous? in their charitable giving. Discretion and tact are good traits to have but I say talk it up! We want to and need to make philanthropy a cool thing to do and to be. We need to motivate more people ? young and old and everyone in-between ? to stretch themselves and become positive social change agents. I encourage you to find a comfortable way to rally your troops and fully leverage your social influence to extend your philanthropic impact. Our world needs more motivated philanthropists!

Your Networking Goal for the Week

This is the week when you can decide that you too are a philanthropist. If you like helping other people and it feels good to give, just imagine how awesome you will feel when you start leveraging your networking connections to do even more collective good!

When you network with people this week, take the time to inquire as to their interests and involvements with charitable organizations. Find out where their social change passions lie. Share yours with them as well. Invite them to join you in some small way ? share some information, invite them to an event, ask them to help you raise money and awareness for the cause. It doesn?t have to be a big ask. Small steps matter too. Being a philanthropist takes practice. This week, you will start putting your philanthropic attitude into motion. The world just got better because of you!

?Money is like manure; it?s not worth a thing unless it?s spread around encouraging young things to grow.?- Thornton Wilder, The Matchmaker, the inspiration behind the musical Hello Dolly!

Articles Ezines ? Can A Mlm Home Based Business Flourish?

Each week, over 100,000 people get started in their own mlm home based business. It is a reduced cost, low risk, high reward model that is proven.

If you would like to uncover the hard facts about network marketing, you really should know that there are a number of things to think about.

If anyone tells you it?s painless, they have apparently forgotten about the long hours they put in at the start. Perhaps it?s easy for them now, but there are numerous challenges that you must take into account before you write a check or sign on the dotted line.

Remember that there are less than 30 mlm firms who have been around for more than 10 years. There isn?t anything wrong with the business model, it?s just that all of the firms that failed simply did not set things up right at the start.

There are two important reasons why these firms folded. Their products weren?t as desirable as they thought they would be, or not moneymaking enough, secondly, their commission payout didn?t stack up.

The compensation plan is the most critical area that you need to focus on. Ask questions, find out what type they employ. There are lots of complex systems out there, so make sure you understand what you are getting into.

Then, take a look at the product. Is it well publicized, is it something most folks would desire, not easily purchased in any retail store? Is it high in quality and is it evergreen? Will consumers still need it in five years time? If they don?t, then what happens to you?

Forming a profitable mlm home based business requires time, skill and an ongoing commitment. So, doing the necessary groundwork before you invest your precious cash is a good step in a winning direction.

You need to also outline a sales and promotional plan in order to market both the product and the opportunity, prior to signing up. Because the only real way you will ever make any money is by selling the company products and enrolling others to do the same.

Hard questions that absolutely demand well thought out answers. The difference that makes all the difference between those who make money with their mlm home based business and those who don?t, all boils down to sales and promoting.

Searching for a network marketing program? Stop by Steven Suchar?s blog where you will find out his latest and greatest mlm home based business tips and techniques.

For some, visiting Europe with all of its history and famous structures like the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pizza, or the Roman Coliseum is the utmost of their dream holiday. For others, active or extreme sports are their vacation choice. They fantasize about climbing Mount Everest or skiing in Switzerland, or diving with the sharks in the Great Barrier Reef. Then there are others who just want to relax and enjoy a restful vacation, a light rum punch with a little umbrella in their hand, their toes sunk into a white sand beach and the sun creating a toasty sheen to their pale skin. Those are the people who want to find the best beach destinations.

Although beach lovers may all seem to want the same things, not all agree that the best beach destinations are ones with pure white sands lapping against tranquil shores. Beaches can be varied and different depending where you go in the world.

In the Caribbean, you are more likely to find those powdery white sand beaches that most dream about. There are several Caribbean islands that would fit into that category. Jamaica would be one with a variety of white sand beach locations to choose from, Grand Cayman another with its seven mile beach. You can also find fabulous sandy beaches in Cuba or the Turks and Caicos Islands. And the water in those places is pure, aqua and clean. Some of the Caribbean islands, though, offer rocky beaches with a more pronounced wave system and a hilly-er landscape, the island of St. Lucia for instance.

Other places in the world offer beaches formed from volcanic activity. Take the island of Santorini, Greece for instance. It has some wonderful swimming spots and offers fantastic weather and the most beautiful picturesque sights, but the beaches there are more pebbles than sand. The black and red pebbles that form these beaches were created by the islands past volcanic history. Greece has long been known though as being one of the best beach destinations in the world.

Hawaii also offers a different style of beaches for beach lovers. Some of the islands offer sand, while other parts offer the lava rock beaches formed by their own volcanic past. Here the water is not as tranquil, but is great for surfers or boogie boarders, while still being clear enough to satisfy snorkerlers and scuba divers.

Other beach locations offer sporting activities beyond just soaking up the sun and sand on the beach. If you are a sports enthusiast, you can go zip-lining in Costa Rica, another famous beach location, or you could para-sail from a Brazilian beach.

There are also beaches that favor nature as part of their attraction. Have you ever thought of penguin watching from a South African beach, whale watching from the Galapagos Islands or swimming with sharks in Australia? Costa Rica is another place famous for an eco-beach vacation.

The best beach destinations do not have to be a simple sun and sand location, unless what you truly want to do is just relax and soak up the rays. You can visit great beaches all over the world and gear your beach vacation to the activities you want to do, or combine your beach vacation with the history you want to experience first-hand. Next time you are looking for one of those best beach destinations, explore the possibilities and find a new beach experience.

Polar bears, brown bears interbred during warm periods. Is it happening again?

Polar and brown bears diverged between 4 million and 5 million years ago, but they continued to interbreed when the climate warmed. Now, there is evidence that it is happening again.

A new genomic study estimates polar bears split from other bears as much as five million years ago.

Polar bears' past may echo their future, indicates a genetic study that finds the white-furred, sea ice-dwelling bears interbred with brown bears long after the two species separated as much as 5 million years ago.

Climate change likely drove this mixing among bears, writes the research team, noting there is evidence this is happening again. ??

"Maybe we're seeing a hint that in really warm times, polar bears changed their lifestyle and came into contact, and indeed interbred, with brown bears," said study researcher Stephan Schuster, a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at Pennsylvania State University, and a research scientist at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, in a statement.

The study estimates polar bears split from brown bears between 4 million and 5 million years ago, after which they endured fluctuations in climate, including ice ages and warmer times.?

Polar bears are currently facing the effects of climate change, this time caused by humans, as the Arctic sea ice upon which they live recedes to unprecedented levels.

"If this trend continues, it is possible that future [polar bears] throughout most of their range may be forced to spend increasingly more time on land, perhaps even during the breeding season, and therefore come into contact with brown bears more frequently," the researchers write in results published today (July 23) in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

"Recently, wild hybrids and even second-generation offspring have been documented in the Northern Beaufort Sea of Arctic Canada where the ranges of brown bears and [polar bears] appear to overlap, perhaps as a recent response to climatic changes," they write. [Album: 8 Bizarre Hybrid Animals]

Schuster and colleagues sequenced genomes (the complete genetic blueprint) of three brown bears and a black bear and compared them with the genomes of polar bears, one modern and the other obtained from remains from a 120,000-year-old polar bear.

Based on differences they found in the bears' genetic codes, the team estimated polar and brown bears split apart about the same time black bears became a distinct species After the split between polar and brown bears, the two species remained isolated for some time, allowing genetic changes to accumulate, before interbreeding more recently, their analysis indicates.

This complicated history may explain why other research has estimated a much younger age for polar bears, the researchers write.

A study published earlier this year estimated polar bears evolved 600,000 years ago, contradicting a previous estimate of 150,000 years ago.

New Orleans tops fastest growing cities in America list

Continuing to rebound from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans had the highest population growth in the country for any city over the size of 100,000.

By Michael B. Sauter, Alexander E.M. Hess and Elisabeth Uible, 24/7 Wall St.

While the nation?s population grew last year by just 0.1 percent, many of the largest metropolitan cities are booming. Based on newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau, 24/7 Wall St. identified the 10 largest cities with the fastest growing populations.

24/7 Wall St.: 8 products the Facebook generation won't buy

Population grew between 2.5 percent and 5 percent in America?s biggest cities. Many of these cities are located in the southeastern part of the United States, with three of the 10 biggest increases taking place in Texas.

Unemployment rates were all across the board in these regions. In 2010, some of these cities, including Austin and Plano, Texas, and Raleigh, N.C., had jobless rates that were among the 15 lowest in the country for large cities. Others, including Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, Ga.; and Tampa, Fla., were on the other end of the spectrum, with unemployment rates of 10 percent or more.

While unemployment varied in these cities, the number of people employed in these regions increased across the board. Between 2010 and 2011, the number of people employed in nonfarm jobs increased in the U.S. by 1.4 percent. In the majority of the metropolitan divisions in which these cities are located, employment increased by at least that much. Charlotte added 2.4 percent to its labor force and Austin grew by 2.8 percent. However, in El Paso, Texas, and New Orleans employment grew at less than the national rate, meaning that the population grew in spite of a stagnant job market.

Looking at GDP growth, many of the local economies were booming before the new residents showed up. Half were in the top third among large metropolitan areas, and three were in the top 15. Charlotte and Austin -- both among the top 10 -- had the second- and third-highest GDP growth in the U.S. between 2009 and 2010.

As more people moved into these markets, demand for housing increased. According to data provided by Fiserv, while home prices fell in nearly every major metropolitan region, it fell by the smallest margins among those on our list. In the case of Austin and Plano, home prices actually increased.

24/7 Wall St.: Home sellers smarter than Realtors think

In order to identify the fastest growing American cities, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the U.S. Census Bureau?s population change data for cities with populations of 250,000 or more. Average unemployment rates for these cities for 2010 and 2011 population change data came from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Data for Metropolitan Statistical Areas and Metropolitan Statistical Divisions was used to represent local economic data for unincorporated cities on the list. Data for the cities? corresponding MSAs include 2010 and 2011 unemployment rates from the BLS, 2009 to 2010 GDP data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and 2010 and 2011 home price data from Fiserv.

These are the fastest growing cities in America.

1. New Orleans, Louisiana

  • ?Change in population:?4.9 percent
  • ?Population in July of 2011:?360,740
  • ?Population in April 2010:?343,829
  • ?Average annual city unemployment (2011):?8.8 percent
  • ?Increase in jobs (2010 to 2011):?6,900 (1.3 percent)

Continuing to rebound from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans had the highest population growth in the country for any city over the size of 100,000. The city?s rate of population growth (4.9 percent) is more than six times the national average of 0.73 percent. The Big Easy?s MSA (New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner) had significant growth in information jobs and education and health services, at 7 percent and 3.6 percent respectively. Despite this growth, the city?s population is at just 80 percent of pre-Katrina levels.

2. Austin, Texas

  • ?Change in population:?3.8 percent
  • ?Population in July of 2011:?820,611
  • ?Population in April 2010:?790,390
  • ?Average annual city unemployment (2011):?6.2 percent
  • ?Increase in jobs (2010 to 2011):?21,900 (2.8 percent)

Austin added 30,221 people between April 2010 and June 2011, a rate of more than 2,000 per month. Alongside this population growth, the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos MSA has experienced tremendous economic growth. Real GDP rose 6.97 percent from 2009 to 2010, while the area added 21,900 jobs in 2011, helping to lower the unemployment rate to 6.2 percent that year. In 2010, 15 percent of housing units in the metropolitan area were five years old or less, the highest such proportion among all metropolitan areas reviewed by 24/7 Wall St. While many regions had weak housing markets in 2011, Austin housing prices actually rose in the fourth quarter of 2011 versus the last quarter of the previous year, reaching a median price of $188,000.

3. Plano, Texas

  • ?Change in population:?3.8 percent
  • ?Population in July of 2011:?269,776
  • ?Population in April 2010:?259,841
  • ?Average annual city unemployment (2011):?6.9 percent
  • ?Increase in jobs (2010 to 2011):?41,700 (2.1 percent)

Plano?s population increased by almost 10,000 between April 2010 and July 2011. Much of this may have been due to the availability of jobs, as 41,700 net jobs were added in 2011 within the Dallas-Plano-Irving metropolitan division, making up more than two-thirds of those added in the MSA. Plano?s government actively recruits multinational enterprises to move their headquarters or other major facilities to the city, and has succeeded in attracting Pizza Hut, JCPenney, Atmos Energy, Rent-A-Center?and other corporations to do so. Another facet of the city?s appeal may be its safety record. In 2011, the city had a violent crime rate of just 1.6 incidents per year per 100,000 residents. This was the lowest figure of any of the 68 cities on our list.

24/7 Wall St: Cities with the most homes in foreclosure

4. Denver, Colorado

  • ?Change in population:?3.3 percent
  • ?Population in July of 2011:?619,968
  • ?Population in April 2010:?600,008
  • ?Average annual city unemployment (2011):?9.1 percent
  • ?Increase in jobs (2010 to 2011):?18,100 (1.5 percent)

Denver?s population increased by 19,960 between 2010 and 2011, and it has outpaced the national growth rate for the past eight decades. According to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, much of this population growth is from the in-migration of educated people. In Denver, 40.2 percent of residents 25 years of age and older have bachelor?s degree or higher.

5. Raleigh, North Carolina

  • ?Change in population:?3.1 percent
  • ?Population in July of 2011::?416,468
  • ?Population in April 2010:?403,903
  • ?Average annual city unemployment (2011):?7.6 percent
  • ?Increase in jobs (2010 to 2011):?10,500?(2.07 percent)

Raleigh?s economy suffered through a tough year in 2009, as the Raleigh-Cary MSA?s real gross domestic product declined 0.93 percent. However, Raleigh?s economy recovered, growing at a robust 5.2 percent pace in 2010. In 2011, the Raleigh MSA added 10,500 jobs over the year with 3,200 of these coming from the trade, transportation and utilities industries, which cumulatively make up what is as of May the city?s largest employers. Much of the Raleigh area?s housing is new -- 14.6 percent of all housing units were created between 2005 and 2010. In 2011, Meritage Homes, the United States? ninth-largest homebuilder, began constructing homes in the region.?

Finding Paid To Take Studies For Money ? A Genuine Home-based ...

There are literally hundreds of businesses who will pay individuals to submit more, reviews, solutions and ideas on a regular basis. Additionally they pay for it. They don?t spend a fortune, so you are not likely to become dripping with gold just for addressing a few questions, though some scams on the market would have you believe you may virtually retire from doing settled on line surveys in your time! Their entirely false and unethical as you probably already know to express it, but in the event you didn?t, there it is?. you CAN make money doing surveys but you will NOT retire from it!Whilst there are many scams in any walk of life and any industry in the entire world, there are also many respectable paid questionnaire companies who do provide a good deal to those who choose to consider earning money this way.For those of you who think it seems a too good to be correct, think again. It truly is not rocket science. Can you also begin to imagine how much money is used on marketing at firms like Nike, Sony or Apple?! You will find virtually Billions of Dollars allocated to advertising between your major firms, and its not wasted money sometimes. They pay out for information so that they don?t spend money developing products, or marketing them, you might say which means they lose overall. In other words, its a little outlay for a much bigger assured revenue in their bank accounts at year end.By understanding precisely what people want, how they think, how they behave etc, by asking them direct, these firms stand to produce a hell of a lot more money every year. So the imagination really doesn?t just take much imagination to realise that it is worth them spending for the information!Marketing companies gather and review consumer spending habits, opinions, values, tastes and more. They then take that knowledge and offer it for a nice fat profit to these companies who pay those companies to give it over. So its a string, and without the fish at the bottom then it?d not exist at all. Being one of those fish has some great advantages, and of course one or two drawbacks, like something else in life.Advantages to Taking Surveys For Money:1. You could work when you like ? are you a night owl? Great because you can perform this at 3 each day when you want!2. You can work where you like ? yes in front of the TV, in the bath tub, wherever you like!!3. You may earn income while you care for your children, sick general, pet dog, or whatever other reason you need to remain in the home. This means moms who are based at home and can?t take a job can now earn money while the moms maintain their main purpose in life operating smoothly.4. You have no boss ? that might seem clear, but its a nightmare of an edge considering some people?s bosses!Disadvantages to Taking Surveys For Money:1. You will not earn a fortune ? no, to say otherwise is lying. You?ll make around average wage for time spent doing the surveys. Needless to say it differs vastly, but this is definitely not a higher paying hourly rate.2. You DO have to work ? it?s good work compared to many, but it can seem a bit monotonous after a while. The strategy is in just making your mind wander and answer the questions virtually sub-consciously, not like you do not care, but like you?re answering a questions in the background while you concentrate on that latest Hollywood Blockbuster you?re really interested in!

How To Avoid Bankruptcy (Not)!

Post image for How To Avoid Bankruptcy (Not)!

It has been said that, ?if you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail?. (Ben Franklin) ?When anyone is first faced with any sort of financial problem, there are certain steps that most people (including ?financial planners?) will recommend that you take. ?Here?s a short list of some of (mis-)steps can land you into trouble. ?This is not the way to avoid bankruptcy. ?In fact bankruptcy may not be such a bad choice at all, given the options.

1. Borrow funds from your 401K retirement plan. ?Somewhere the idea got started that if you are really in trouble, you can just take the money out of your retirement savings and then pay it back. ?(Oh yeah, the IRS says it?s OK.) ?The concept is that since you put the money there, you can borrow it and then pay it back over time with interest. ?Since you are only paying yourself back, it?s better than paying creditors. ?The real problem with this is that you are only trading one debt for another and if anything happens to your income, you will not be able to pay it back and now you have created a tax problem. ?That ?borrowed? money becomes regular income and you have to pay taxes on your debt. ?But most importantly, you now have nothing saved up for retirement.

2. Refinance the house, take out the equity, and use it to pay bills. ?Luckily, the Great Recession has slowed this substantially and only sterling credit will get you a re-finance. ?Your house is not a piggy bank. ?The original idea of a mortgage was to allow low payments in order to buy a home. ?This is where you live and your mortgage is not rent. ?It is meant to pay off the loan so at the end of the loan, you own your home.

3. ?Raise you deductions on your paycheck so your employer withholds less from your pay so you have more take-home income every week. ?The IRS frowns on this. ?But worse yet, while you may be generating money to pay off your debt, you are exposing yourself to a tax claim at the end of the year. ?Given a choice of who I want to owe money to, it would not be the IRS.

4. ?Borrow from friends or relatives. ?So your brother is somewhat successful and has cash in the bank or worse yet, access to a credit line that you can use to pay your bills. ?Some call this ?credit lending? where one person agrees to lend their credit so you can borrow money, but I call it the Vampire Effect. ?You are sucking the financial life out of others around you.

5. Engaging a credit counseling company online who promises to get you out of debt for little or no money. ?There are strict licensing guidelines for legitimate credit counseling agencies, but the airwaves and the internet are filled with questionable companies who will charge up large up front fees, take your money and disappear ?in the night leaving you with nothing but even bills than what you started with.

You can see why these will cause problems, but they are even larger if you are ultimately left with no choice but to file bankruptcy. ?Repayment of 401K loans are not a legitimate expense when calculating the means test numbers in a Chapter 7 case. ?That means you could be forced into a Chapter repayment plan, possibly for five years or worse yet, forced out of bankruptcy altogether. ?Most states and the federal government recognize an exemption for home equity meaning your home would not be at risk in a bankruptcy case, but if you have spent that equity, you need to pay that mortgage even after bankruptcy or you could lose your home. ?It goes without saying that the IRS get preferential treatment even in bankruptcy cases and your tax problems will likely survive a bankruptcy. ?Repayments to friends and family are recoverable in a bankruptcy so the ?friendly? loans paid within the year before a bankruptcy get unpaid. ?And finally, once a crook disappears with your money, it is near to impossible to recover it.

If you are experiencing financial problems or you can se it coming down the road, it is always best to get proper qualified information before you do anything. ?Even if you don?t plan on filing for bankruptcy, it does?t hurt to speak to a good bankruptcy attorney to make sure you see the situation properly and aren;t going to cause yourself any issues if things later go wrong.

(AP) ? The Colorado shooting suspect planned the rampage that killed 12 midnight moviegoers with "calculation and deliberation," police said Saturday, receiving deliveries for months that authorities believe armed him for battle and were used to rig his apartment with dozens of bombs.

Authorities on Saturday were still working to clear dangerous explosive materials from inside James Holmes' suburban Denver apartment a day after police said he opened fire and set off gas canisters in a suburban theater minutes into the premiere of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises,"At least 70 people were wounded

His apartment was rigged with jars of liquids, explosives and chemicals that were booby trapped to kill "whoever entered it," Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said, noting it would have likely been one of his officers.

"You think we're angry? We sure as hell are angry," Oates said.

Authorities wouldn't discuss a motive for one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent U.S. history, as makeshift memorials for the victims sprang up and relatives began to publicly mourn their loved ones.. Holmes had recently withdrawn from a competitive graduate program in neuroscience; neighbors and former classmates in California have said he was a smart loner who said little.

But he had apparently prepared the attack at the Aurora theater well in advance, receiving multiple deliveries by mail for four months and buying thousands rounds of ammunition on the Internet, Oates said.

"He had a high volume of deliveries to both his work and home address. We think this explains how he got his hands on the magazine, ammunition," he said, as well as the rigged explosives in his apartment.

"What we're seeing here is evidence of some calculation and deliberation," Oates added.

Federal authorities detonated one small explosive and disarmed others inside Holmes' apartment after sending in a robot to take down a trip wire, FBI Special agent James Yacone said. Bomb technicians then neutralized what he called a "hyperbolic mixture" and an improvised explosive device containing an unknown substance. There also were multiple containers of accelerants, he said.

"It was an extremely dangerous environment," Yacone said, saying anyone who walked in would have sustained "significant injuries" or been killed.

Holmes, 24, was in a county detention facility Saturday, held without bond on suspicion of multiple counts of first-degree murder. He was set for an initial hearing on Monday and had been appointed a public defender, authorities said.

Stories of the dead began to emerge, including including a 6-year-old girl and a man who died on his 27th birthday and a day before his anniversary. Families grieved and waited at hospitals, which reported at least seven wounded still in critical condition Saturday and others with injuries that were likely permanent.

Veronica Moser, 6, had gone to the movies with her mother, who was drifting in and out of consciousness in a hospital intensive care unit, bullets lodged in her throat and abdomen.

"Nobody can tell her about it," Annie Dalton said of her niece, Ashley Moser. "She is in critical condition, but all she's asking about is her daughter."

Veronica had just started swimming lessons on Tuesday, Dalton said.

"She was excited about life as she should be. She's a 6-year-old girl," her great aunt said.

Another victim, 27-year-old Matt McQuinn, was killed after diving in front of his girlfriend and her older brother to shield them from the gunfire, said his family's attorney, Rob Scott of Dayton, Ohio.

Alex Sullivan had planned a weekend of fun, to ring in his 27th birthday with friends at the special midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" and then celebrate his first wedding anniversary on Sunday.

"He was a very, very good young man," said Sullivan's uncle, Joe Loewenguth. "He always had a smile, always made you laugh. He had a little bit of comic in him."

Oates said Holmes used a military-style semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and a pistol to open fire on the unsuspecting theater-goers. He had bought the weapons at local gun stores within the last two months. He recently purchased 6,000 rounds of ammunition over the Internet, the chief said.

Holmes also bought an urban assault vest, two magazine holders and a knife for just over $300 on July 2 from an online supplier of tactical gear for police and military personnel, according to the company.

Chad Weinman, CEO of TacticalGear.com, said his company processes thousands of orders each day, and there was nothing unusual in the one that Holmes placed. While his company often receives orders from military units and law enforcement organizations, it is not out of the ordinary for individual police officers or soldiers to place orders, he said.

"Everything Mr. Holmes purchased on July 2 is commercially available," Weinman said, adding he was "appalled" that the material was sold to Holmes before the shooting.

It wasn't known why the suspect chose a movie theater to stage the assault, or whether he intended some twisted, symbolic link to the film's violent scenes.

The Batman movie, the last in the trilogy starring Christian Bale, opened worldwide Friday with midnight showings in the U.S. The plot has the villain Bane facing Bale's Caped Crusader with a nuclear weapon that could destroy all of fictional Gotham.

The Dark Knight Rises" earned $30.6 million in Friday morning midnight screenings, and, according to industry estimates, roughly $75-77 million on the day. That put it on track for a weekend total of around $165 million, which would be the second highest opening weekend ever, following "The Avengers."

Warner Bros. has announced it would forgo the usual revenue reports until Monday out of respect for the victims. Sony, Disney and Universal also said they would delay reporting box office receipts until Monday, a day later than the routine Sunday releases for Hollywood.

After buying a ticket to the movie, Holmes went into the theater and propped open an exit door several minutes into the film, a federal law enforcement official said. The suspect then returned in protective gear and with high-powered weapons and opened fire, shooting scores of people and picking off victims who tried to flee, officials said.

The shooting was the worst in the U.S. since the Nov. 5, 2009, attack at Fort Hood, Texas. An Army psychiatrist was charged with killing 13 soldiers and civilians and wounding more than two dozen others. It was the deadliest in Colorado since the 1999 attack at Columbine High School, where two students killed 12 classmates and a teacher and wounded 26 others before killing themselves.

After excelling at the University of California-Riverside, Holmes was in the process of withdrawing from a neuroscience Ph.D. program at the University of Colorado-Denver for unknown reasons.

First-year students must take a three-part exam at the end of the academic year to move on in the program, University spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said Saturday. Montgomery did not know whether Holmes had taken the exam.

As part of the program, Holmes had been listed as making a presentation in May about Micro DNA Biomarkers in a class named "Biological Basis of Psychiatric and Neurological Disorders."

Mary Muscari, a criminology professor at Regis University in Denver who studies mass killings, said she was not surprised Holmes was studying neuroscience and mental disorders.

"It could be he was interested in that because he knows there's something different in him," said Muscari.

She said that several mass murderers are young men in late adolescent or early adulthood. "We're talking about guys when they're at that ago when they're testosterone charged, their brains start developing, and it's also when schizophrenia kicks in."

Those who knew Holmes described him as a shy, intelligent person raised in California by parents who were active in their well-to-do suburban San Diego neighborhood. Holmes played soccer at Westview High School and ran cross-country before going to college.

Police said they would begin collecting the personal items left by panicked moviegoers in days and would move out of the theater by midweek. Shaken law enforcement officials urged residents to not stay home.

"I just don't want the shameless and senseless act of one man to make this difficult for families to move on," Aurora Fire Chief Mike Garcia said. "Go out. See a movie. Go out into your city. Don't be afraid."
